Very educational yet still fun! January 6, 2009 I purchased this for my 2nd grade son, he's very curious about Geography and he is learning about different places in social studies, this gives him all different info about all these places, how much land mass, capital s, how far from where we live, etc..... I would highly recommend this globe!
Great learning tool December 31, 2008 This globe is fun and entertaining. Lots of options are available for what you want to learn, from music to time to currency. Individual use works fine as well as playing "find _____" type games with others. Our pen has worked fine in the week it's been used.
VERY disappointed in the quality! December 28, 2008 I would not recommend this product to anyone. My 7 year old daughter just received this globe for Christmas, and was very excited, said it was her favorite gift. Unfortunately, after playing with it for only a day, the tip of the stylus/pen is breaking off, and thus it no longer is interacting correctly with the globe. She was not rough with the pen, used it appropriately, and is now very disappointed that the globe is not working, and that we will be returning it for a refund. I had read many reviews before buying that said the stylus often broke early on, so shame on me for not listening. I expected more from a Leap Frog product, and will avoid buying their products in the future.
Great educational value; we'll see how it lasts December 27, 2008 We bought this for my 6-yo son for Christmas this year. It has definitely been a BIG hit for him (and I'm grateful for the headphone capability). He loves playing with the different settings and is already trying hard to 'study' for all the games so he can 'win' them. It's definitely a good challenge for him, and my husband actually stole it after my son went to bed last night so he could test himself. I can see head-to-head matches taking place in the coming months.
I had read most of the reviews here before I purchased this globe, so I was worried about durability (and still am). It came in one piece and worked great in the box, so that was good. The worry now is how long it will last. It is NOT meant to be hauled around the house. It's definitely something you'll want to stick in one spot and leave it there. We've chosen my son's nightstand so he can use it at night or during rest time if he wants. My son is also having to learn that picking it up by the globe itself is a no-no; you have to pick it up by the base or it starts messing up a bit. The pen seems to work fine now, so we'll see how it goes in the next few months. Fingers crossed, because it's a great toy/tool and I want it to last long enough for my 3-yo daughter to inherit it!
Favorite Gift for Christmas December 26, 2008 Both my kids, 5 and 7 years old, love this globe. Highly recommend for educational value! Very well made and worth every penny, even for adults it's cool!
